Travellers' information
)There are several ways how to get to Toruń. The closest airport is in Bydgoszcz, approximately 1 hr drive from Toruń.
Other recommended airports are in Gdańsk and Warsaw, however travelling from there takes longer. Below you will find some tips on easy ways to reach the conference venue.
1. GETTING TO TORUŃ FROM BYDGOSZCZ AIRPORT
There is a bus from the Bydgoszcz airport to Toruń which goes once a day at 2.25 pm and arrives to Toruń around 3.45 pm (timetable available at: http://plb.pl/en/contents/189).If you fly with Lufthansa it is for free, otherwise you can pay at the bus. There are several bus stops in Torun, the best option is to get off the bus at the last bus station in Torun (Dworzec Autobusowy). There are taxis available there, it takes 5-10 minutes to get to the Bulwar hotel.
Alternatively, there is a bus from the Bydgoszcz airport to Bydgoszcz Main Train Station (Bydgoszcz Glowna) - line No. 80 (the only one there, so no place for mistake, more information at: http://plb.pl/en/contents/189)
2. GETTING TO TORUŃ FROM THE WARSAW CHOPIN AIRPORT
From this place, you should go to the Warsaw’s central railway station which is known as the „Warszawa Centralna”. The easiest way of arriving at the railway station is the Taxi. There are taxis available outside of the airport. It takes something about 15-30 minutes to get to the station, depending on the traffic jams.
A good option is also getting to the Warsaw's central railway station by train. Near to the airport, there is a small railway station, which is called as the "Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina". From here you can travel directly to the "Warszawa Centralna" railway station, by the two kinds of train lines. First of them is called SKM - "Szybka Kolej Miejska" (Rapid Urban Railway), the second one - "Koleje Mazowieckie" (Masovian Railways). In here: https://www.lotnisko-chopina.pl/en/train.html you can find necessary information about this way of travelling in Warsaw.
You can also arrive at the railway station with the city bus – there is a bus stop, with the often departures. The bus stop is called: „Lotnisko Chopina – Przyloty”. You can use for example the line nr 175 (or another similar), to get to the „Warszawa Centralna” railway station (the railway station's bus stop is called as the „Dworzec Główny” or „Dw. Główny”).
In here:http://www.ztm.waw.pl/rozklad_nowy.php?c=182&n=4201&o=02&l=2 you can find bus schedule in English.
In the railway station, you can buy a ticket for the direct train to Toruń – your station is called as „Toruń Główny”. Before the departure, you can also take a look at the Palace of Culture and Science located next to the railway station (you could not overlook it). It is actually one of the most characteristic buildings in Warsaw.
The train is the easiest way to arrive at Toruń. You can find a timetable in English here: http://rozklad-pkp.pl/en. When looking for a train at the web page choose as your destination Toruń's Main Station (Toruń Główny)
There are taxis at Toruń Główny train station that take you to the Bulwar hotel in less than 10 minutes. Be aware of the breathtaking view from taxi's window when crossing the Vistula River.
3. GETTING TO TORUŃ FROM THE GDAŃSK AIRPORT
The journey from the airport in Gdańsk is a bit more complicated, but not too difficult.
You can set off from the Gdańsk by train and bus from actually the same place (bus and railway station are next to each other), but firstly you have to get there from the airport. You can also use the Taxi of course, but you have to remember that the way from the airport is a bit longer than in the Warsaw.
You can also get to the railway or bus station using the city train, which in Gdańsk is often called as SKM („Szybka Kolej Miejska”). In here you can find information about the train’s departures:
If you would have a problem with turning on the English version of this website especially remember, that your starting station is called as „Gdańsk Port Lotniczy”, and the ending station is called as „Gdańsk Główny”.
As it was said, when you get to the bus and railway station you can get to the Toruń with the bus or the train, as you wish.
If you would like to travel by bus, the best option probably will be using the bus line which is at the moment known as the "Flixbus" (earlier the name of the company was the "Polskibus.com"). Buses of this company are rather characteristic - there are probably most comfortable buses on the polish roads, with the light green or red colour. The green one buses have the current logo of the company Flixbus, but there are still buses of this line (these are the red one) with the old name and logo. However, this is still buses of the same company.
In here: https://global.flixbus.com/?wt_eid=2152200119421177754&wt_t=1529694501047&_ga=2.3281456.1017550446.1529694485-1105269864.1522001192 you can find an information about the timetable and buy the tickets. You have to remember, that if you would choose this way of transport to Toruń, you can buy the ticket only by the internet. With this bus, you will arrive at the bus station in Torun (Dworzec Autobusowy). There are taxis available there, it takes 5-10 minutes to get to the Bulwar hotel.
To find most suitable train you can also use the same website, i.e. http://rozklad-pkp.pl/en. You have to only remember, that you start from the station called as the „Gdańsk Główny (Gdańsk Main Station) to "Toruń Główny" (Toruń Main Station). There are taxis at Toruń Główny train station that take you to the Bulwar hotel in less than 10 minutes. Be aware of the breathtaking view from taxi's window when crossing the Vistula River.
Before the departure from Gdańsk, you can also take a look at the Gdańsk Old Town, which is located close to the stations. It is a beautiful place, but it is possible, that the Toruń’s Old Town would be even more breathtaking.
Nevertheless, it is worth to add, that the network of roads leading to Toruń is also quite well developed, so if you would like to travel to Toruń, for example by a car, it also could be a good option. The city roads are also quite friendly and are constantly growing.
